It may just be our personal taste in music, but Lollapalooza 2009 was completely dominated by Perry Farrell’s Stage. In fact, the music was so incredible that it was nearly impossible to leave the stage for fear of missing a single beat. The one time that we actually left for another concert, we were sorely disappointed beyond belief and nearly fell asleep. You know what they say, “F*** me in the ass once, shame on you; F*** me in the ass twice, shame on me.” After Lolla Day 1, we quickly learned our lesson and stayed put with Perry.
Now, it’s great that the producers of Lollapalooza expanded and repositioned Perry’s stage this year, but with a juggernaut line-up including The Bloody Beetroots, Simian Mobile Disco, Diplo, Boys Noize, MSTRKRFT, Bassnectar and Deadmau5, there definitely should have been some some reconsideration for the main stage performances.
Just look at the headliners for the Budweiser Stage: Kings of Leon– *yaaaawwwwn*…Yeah Yeah Yeahs– weak-ass replacement for the Beastie Boys…Jane’s Addiction– Perry could and should have just performed on his own damn stage. MSTRKRFT, the Mau5, Bassnectar and even The Beetroots would have all destroyed Northapalooza and been far more qualified for the headlining spots at Budweiser.
Furthermore, it’s actually quite disappointing to see the lack of news coverage on Perry’s considering the big names that were present for the occasion. Perhaps we were all just too busy having fun to take detailed notes for follow-up articles. Lucky for everyone, we do have video coverage of some of our favorite acts at Perry’s this year!
We’ll kick things off with the Deadmau5 Lolla performance of his new “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” remix featuring vocals by Rob Swire of Pendulum. Gives us the chills everytime we watch it.
